Gordon F. Mael, 78, Almond, a former Almond Village Board trustee, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Almond, with the Rev. Dan Iwinski officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
A memorial has been established in his name.
Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in Almond assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Mael was born March 23, 1922, in Portage, a son of the late Roy A. and Sarah (Drew) Mael.
He was married to Nila Mehne on April 15, 1944, in Almond.
He worked for Green Giant Co. and Skelly Oil Co. in Almond for 15 years before retiring after working for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for 15 years.
He served as a trustee on the Almond Village Board from 1959 to 1968.
He was a member of the Almond Lions Club for more than 45 years, serving as secretary from 1973-75, president from 1977-78 and chairman and co-chairman of the Parade Committee for many years.
He was also a member of the Almond Volunteer Fire Department, St. John Lutheran Church where he served in various offices and the Almond Snow Eagles Snowmobile Club.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Paula (Van) Komurka, West Bend; two stepsisters, Verna (Donald) Marquardt, Westfield, and Vivian (Edward) Ziemann, Milwaukee; and two grandsons.
