Darlene R. Southern, 68, Marshfield, stepmother of two Stevens Point women, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, following a six-month battle with ovarian cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home in Marshfield. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home until the services.
Mrs. Southern was born May 27, 1932, in the town of McMillan (Wood County), a son of the late Robert and Rose (Felton) Cepress.
She was married to Robert Schwantes on Dec. 29, 1952. They later divorced.
She was married to Jerry D. Southern on Nov. 10, 1978, in Marshfield.
She was employed by Morgan Drive Away in Marshfield for 16 years. She also owned and operated Country Pines Supper Club with her husband for four-and-one-half years and continued to work there after retirement.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Lonnie Schwantes, Marshfield, and Randy Schwantes, Stratford; two daughters, Cheryl (Randy) Schofield, Spencer, and Lisa (Alan) Reed, Cass City, Mich.; one stepson, William Southern, Clintonville; two stepdaughters, Linda (Mark) Miller and Becky Sue Kranski, both of Stevens Point; one sister, Sharon Schwantes, Marshfield; six grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
