Chester “Chet” Buza, 80, 1510 N. Second Drive, town of Hull, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his residence while under the care of Hospice of Portage County, his daughter and granddaughter, Michelle Pagel-Higgins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Casimir Catholic Church, with the Rev. Donald Walczak officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Shuda Funeral chapel and from 9 a.m. Thursday at the church until the services. There will be a general rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name to St. Casimir Catholic Church renovation project.
Mr. Buza was born Dec. 20, 1919, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Harry and Verona (Groholski) Buza. He attended St. Peter School and graduated from Emerson/P.J. Jacobs High School.
He was married to J. Margaret Gollon on Oct. 12, 1946, at St. Casimir Catholic Church.
He worked for Nekoosa Paper Mill and Fisher’s Diary until 1948, when he went to work for Wisconsin River Division of Consolidated Papers Inc. He retired in 1982 after 34 years.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rosemary Furo and Janet (John Jr.) Laskowski, both of Stevens Point; three sisters, Lorraine Trierweiler, Marshfield, Pearl (Leonard) Szymanski, Stevens Point, and Harriet Adams, Plover; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
