Kathleen M. McDowell, 50, 7494 County Road Z, Custer, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, as the result of a traffic accident.
Memorial services will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Memorials have been established in her name in lieu of flowers for the Wisconsin chapter of NASW and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage County.
Ms. McDowell was born Jan. 11, 19050, in Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Miller) McDowell. As a child, her family moved to Arlington, Va., and she graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Va.
She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and master of science and social work degree from UW-Madison.
She was currently employed as a therapist at Rice Psychiatry.
She was married to Stanley Kovach on June 27, 1969, in North Carolina. They later divorced.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa (Matthew) Bohm, Waupaca, and Michele (Timothy) Koshollek, Amherst; and one grandson.
