John Roman Formella, 70, Portsmouth, Va., a Stevens Point native, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Therese Catholic Church in Chesapeake, Va. Burial will be in Arthurdale, W. Va.
Sturtevant Funeral Home of Portsmouth, Va., is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born June 24, 1930, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Edmund B. and Rose (Suplicki) Formella.
He was a master chief in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired from Comm. Satellite Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Joan A.; three daughters, Laura A. Fennimore, Pittsburgh, Pa., Linda M. Formella, Arlington, Va., and Deborah J. Formella, Columbia, Md.; one son, Mark J., Smithfield, Va.; one sister, Ruth Christian, Green Bay; and three grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Formella Ravenscroft, and three brothers, Gregory, James and Lawrence.
