Athol A. Jacklin, 89, Wellington Place, died Friday, June 23, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Plover United Methodist Church with the Rev. Diego Orsini officiating. Burial will be Restlawn Memorial Park in the town of Grand Rapids (Wood County).
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Boston Funeral Home and at the church from 9 a.m. Monday until the services.
A memorial in her name has been established for Plover United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Jacklin was born Dec. 9, 1910, in the town of Plover, a daughter of the late Jesse and Grace Grant. She graduated from Emerson High School in 1928 and worked for Hardware Mutual Insurance Co. until her marriage.
She was married to Milvern “Stub” E. Jacklin on Dec. 31, 1934, at the Buena Vista United Methodist parsonage.
In 1945 she became a partner in Jacklin Company Enterprises.
She was billing clerk for Steffke Motor Freight in Plover and then deputy Portage County clerk from 1965 until retiring in 1972.
She was a member of Plover United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her husband, Wellington Place; one son, Gary Lee (Andrea), Appleton; one brother, Everett (Fern) Grant, Wausau; one sister, Grace Marian Dakins, Plover; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert; and one brother, Forest Grant.
