Agnes Rose Blenker, 93, 417 Morgan Ave., Junction City, a longtime Junction City businesswoman, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Junction City with the Rev. John A. Wisneski officiating. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Milladore.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church and again from 12:30 p.m. Monday until the services.
Memorials may be given in her name to St. Michael Church’s New Window Fund.
Martens/Kundinger Funeral Home of Junction City assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Blenker was born Jan. 4, 1907, in Milladore, a daughter of the late John and Rose (Bazal) Becker. She attended Milladore Grade School and Stevens Point Normal School.
She was married to Joseph A. Blenker on July 21, 1931, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore. He died Oct. 30, 1956.
She taught school at Oak Hill School in Junction City and Milladore Grade School before the marriage.
After the marriage, they owned and operated various businesses, including Blenker Dine & Dance in Junction City, Blenker Tavern in Milladore, Blenker Amusement Co. and Blenker’s TV and Appliance in Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids and Junction City.
She retired in 1972 and continued to reside in Junction City.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic Woman. She was instrumental in the building of the original parish hall. She was a member of the St. Michael’s Altar Society, serving as its first president and holding various other offices. She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for over 75 years.
Survivors include four daughters, Jean Haydock, Mercer, and Joan (Don) Pavlik, Mary Jane Blenker and June Slowinski, all of Junction City; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and two granddaughters in infancy.
