Harry Hazen Smith, 97, Stevens Point, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shuda Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Smith was born Nov. 1, 1902, in Hayward, a son of the late Wallace and Emily Smith. He grew up in the logging era and spent his early years as a professional guide on Hayward area lakes.
He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his undergraduate and graduate work.
He was married to Agnes Elizabeth McCarthy from Chippewa Falls in 1942.
He was the post commandant of cadets at Breck Military School in St. Paul, Minn., and was a teacher at both secondary and college levels for 40 years.
He retired as a biology professor from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Judd (Mary), Rothschild, Terry (Nancy), Stevens Point, Scott (Barbara), Tacoma, Wash., and Craig, Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Prudence Smith, Stevens Point; and seven grandchildren.
