John Rachick, 80, 100 Rachick Road, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Winfield, Ill., at a later date.
Mr. Rachick was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late John and Maria (Zupon) Rachick.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marines from 1941 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He served at Pearl Harbor as a fireman.
He was married to Marion Besch on Sept. 16, 1946, at St. Mary Catholic Church in West Chicago, Ill.
He was an instructor for electronics at Mid-State Technical College.
He was also an assistant fire chief for the town of Hull for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clarence “Clancy,” Colfax, and James, South St. Paul, Minn.; one daughter, Judy (O.D.) Holley, Roscoe, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
