Roman B. Lemke, 81, 1800 Sherman Ave., Whiting, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at his residence in Riverside Suites.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. There will be an American Legion ritual at 6:30 p.m., Moose ritual at 6:45 p.m. and general rosary at 7 p.m.
Mr. Lemke was born Feb. 23, 1919, in the town of Dewey, a son of the late John and Prakseda (Wierzba) Lemke.
He entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 10, 1941 at Camp Grant, Ill., and served as a tech 5. He was discharged Nov. 25, 1944, at Galesburg, Ill. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He worked for the Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee, retiring in 1989.
Survivors include five sisters, Agnes Maurer-Tequesta, Florida, Johanna “Jennie” Klabon and Helen (Frank) Gollonik, both of Stevens Point, Ann Lemke, Milwaukee, and Regina Lemke, Chicago; and one brother, Henry (Celia) Lemke, Custer.
