Matthew D. Massoglia, 28, a Stevens Point native, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. He was the recipient of a heart transplant on May 10, 1999.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Kozlowski officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. A Bible vigil will be held at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established to benefit organ donation.
Mr. Massoglia was born Sept. 6, 1972, in Stevens Point, a son of Dennis and Barbara (Kiefer) Massoglia.
He attended St. Stephen Grade School and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1990. At Pacelli, he was a member of the band and competed in football, cross country, tennis and wrestling. He was a two-state qualifier in wrestling, placing fifth at 119 pounds as a junior.
He graduated from Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in 1995.
For the past four years, he worked in sales for Mid-America Business Systems in Minneapolis.
He was a former member of the Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Water Ski Show Team.
Survivors include his parents, Stevens Point; two brothers, Mark, Wisconsin Rapids, and Michael, Minneapolis; and his maternal grandmother, Dolores Kiefer, Slinger.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Blanche Massoglia, and his maternal grandfather, Andrew Kiefer.
