James “Kuba” Jacob Firkus, 73, 310 Casimir Road, died Monday, April 3, 2000, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Jensen & Jinsky Funeral Home in Plover and from 10 a.m. Thursday at the church until the services. A general rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Firkus was born April 23, 1926, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Paul Sr. and Margaret (Losinski) Firkus.
He was married to Eljean Blaskowski on Aug. 25, 1947, at St. Casimir Catholic Church. They have lived at their present address since 1952.
He owned and operated James Firkus Auto Wrecking and Towing Co. for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Eugene, at home, and Kenneth (Margaret) and Daniel (Catherine), both of Stevens Point; four brothers, Onufrey, Lake Mills, Ambrose, Stevens Point, Martin (Eleanor), Custer, and Paul (Sally), Marathon; four sisters, Dominica Bembenek, Wittenberg, Ramona Dombrowski, Amherst Junction, and Stella King and Lucille (Art) Wysocki, both of Stevens Point; and four granddaughters.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
