Elizabeth “Betty” (Hein) Zuege, 78, 2901 Della St., died at home Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Alan Burkhardt officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Boston Funeral Home and from 9:30 am. Wednesday at the Church Family Center until the services. A rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established in her name for St. Joseph Church and Hospice of Portage County.
Mrs. Zuege was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Regina (Hirzy) Hein.
She was married to Harold Zuege on May 29, 1941. He died April 5, 1994.
After her graduation in 1949 from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, she taught at the Stevens Point Deaf School. She later obtained a degree in speech pathology and worked for 14 years in that field in the Iola and Waupaca areas.
She was a coordinator of the seven reunions for the class of 1938 of Emerson High School. She was a member of CDA, St. Anne’s Society of St. Joseph Parish, SPARTA (Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers Association), the Knights of Columbus, DAV Auxiliary, the Railroad Retirement Group, and the Widow and Widower’s Group.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna (John) King, Green Bay, and Diane (Heinrich) Marz, Meitingen, Germany; two sons, David (Wanda), Custer, and Douglas (Elizabeth), La Crosse; one brother, Joseph (Audrey) Hein, Stevens Point; one sister, Leone (W. Patrick) Weller; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen, and a brother, Donn Hein.
