Caroline “Carrie” M. Shortell, 61, town of Sherry (Wood County), a Stevens Point native, died Saturday morning, Feb. 12, 2000, at her residence.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rudolph with the Rev. Blaine Niskanen officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in the town of Grand Rapids (Wood County).
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, and from noon Wednesday at the church until the services.
Mrs. Shortell was born May 30, 1938, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Garland and Gertrude (Lukasavage) Thompson. She lived in the Auburndale area most of her life and attended Pleasant Hill Grade School and Auburndale High School.
She was married to LaVine Shortell on June 7, 1958, in Hewitt.
She worked for the Wisconsin Rapids Telephone Co. and various factory and supermarket jobs. She farmed with her husband most of her life and was a foster mother.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Todd and Jim; on daughter, Wendy (Arnold) Bendickson, Vesper; three sisters, Jan (Roger) Guldan, Marshfield, Delores (Donald) Hause, Wisconsin Rapids, and Sandra (Arlen) Koenigsreiter, Oak Creek; four granddaughters; one stepgranddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert.
