Ronald A. Boersma, 67, Plover, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home and Crematory in Friendship, with the Rev. Pavel Rudoy officiating.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Seventh Day Adventist Church, Oxford, or Hospice of Portage County.
Mr. Boersma was born Oct. 20, 1932, in La Grange Park, Ill, to the late Andrew and Eunice (Klinger) Boersma. He attended elementary schools in Ilinsdale, Ill, until moving to Adams County in 1946.
He was married to Sharon Strand on March 5, 1955, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams. She survives.
Mr. Boersma served three years in the U.S. Army and four years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at the Adams County Highway Department and then the Adams Municipal Department, before retiring in 1987.
He enjoyed woodworking, reading and bird watching. He was a member of the Adams Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6279 and Seventh Day Adventist Church, Oxford.
Besides his wife, survivors include three daughters, JoEllen (Mike) Brown, Kenosha, Melody Boersma, Dallas, Texas, and Alison (John) Cegelski, Stevens Point; one son, Eugene (Tammy) Boersma, Madison; three grandsons; a brother, Clinton Boersma, Manteca, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Cloutier, Delavan.
Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
