Raymond E. Toftum, 81, Amherst, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at his residence.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Amherst. The Rev. Dale Critchley will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Amherst.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home and from noon until the services Saturday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in Mr. Toftum’s name.
Mr. Toftum was born Dec. 11, 1918, in the town of Amherst, a son of the late Anund and Laura (Borgen) Toftum.
He was married to Leona Ida Boelter on May 1, 1943, in Amherst. She survives.
Mr. Toftum worked at the International Bank of Amherst for more than 40 years. He served as the Amherst village clerk from 1966 to 1981 and on the Village Board from 1981 until present. He is a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Amherst.
Besides his wife, survivors include three sons, Jerry J. (Shelly), Medford, Mark R. (Pamela), Waupaca, and Danny D. (Barbara), Amherst; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
