Louis Florian Zarecki, 69, 2909 Highway 34 North, Junction City, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at his home in the town of Eau Pleine.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Junction City with the Rev. John A. Wisneski officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Junction City.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Martens/Kundinger Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the services. The parish rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.
Mr. Zarecki was born June 20, 1930, in the town of Carson, a son of the late John and Angeline (Tylka) Zarecki.
He was married to Joann J. Polcin on June 21, 1958, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Junction City. She died Nov. 13, 1995.
As a young man, he played in a polka band and then began a 33-year career with the Portage County Highway Department while also maintaining a dairy farm. He retired from the highway department in 1991.
Survivors include four sons, Wayne (Karen) Polcin, New Philadelphia, Ohio, Chuck (Juanita) Zarecki, Junction City, and Steve Zarecki and Gary Zarecki, both of Stevens Point; three daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Gollon, Plover, Sharon (Dave) Hannas, Hooper, Wash., and Lisa (Ron) Zarecki, Junction City; three brothers, John, Stevens Point, Raymond (Florence) and Peter (Adriann), both of Junction City; two sisters, Angeline (Edward) Mallek, Junction City, and Mary (William) Houtary, Stevens Point; and 16 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen; one brother and three sisters.
