Irene Seivert Yost, 91, DeForest, a former University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point professor, died Wednesday Jan. 19, 2000, at Cedar Crossing Assisted Living Center in DeForest.
The memorial and spreading of ashes will be private.

Mrs. Yost was born May 17,1908, in Ashton, Iowa.
She taught in one-room schoolhouses and helped develop a national testing system for Western Samoa in the South Pacific.
She was a long-time resident of Lake Tomahawk and was a teacher and guidance counselor at Lakeland High School in Minocqua. She was an assistant professor of education and a counselor at UW-SP from 1965 until retiring in 1973. She then joined the Peace Corp, serving in Western Samoa.
She was married to Edwin Yost who died in 1961.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Henne, Sun Prairie, and Meagan “Babs” Yost, Poynette; two sons, Charles, Menominee, Mich., and Edwin “Butch,” Miami, Fla.
