Stanley L. Eckendorf, 91, 3510 Highway J, town of Stockton, died Monday afternoon, Dec. 6, 1999, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Polonia. The Rev. Marcin Mankowski will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the services at the church. The Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart, of which he was a member, will combine with the parish rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Eckendorf was born Feb. 2, 1908, in the town of Stockton, a son of the late Victor and Mary (Platta) Eckendorf. He attended local schools.
He was married to Cecelia Ziolkowski on Sept. 26, 1933, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After their marriage, they settled at their present address and farmed until their retirement. She died May 20, 1999.
Mr. Eckendorf enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and playing cards.
Survivors include three sons, Ernest, Plover, Leroy (Josephine), Wausau, and Richard (Elaine), Custer; seven daughters, Betty (Ralph) Groshek, Milwaukee, Nancy (Conrad) Groshek, Galloway, Diana (Jerome) Myska, Weston, Germaine (Joe) Moser, Custer, Doris Ostrowski, Stevens Point, Darlene (Michael) Kuehl, Custer, and Joan (Joe) O’Neill, town of Stockton; one sister, Clara (John) Mazoch, Milwaukee; 30 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Leo; three sisters, Pearl Bronk, Susan Klopatek and Dorothy Bergman; and one grandson.
