Leonard J. Potter, 55, Plover, who played Santa Claus at Manufacturers’ Direct Mall in Plover for many years, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in Pennsylvania.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Boston Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home until the services. A memorial will be established in his name.
Mr. Potter was born May 17, 1944, in Stevens Point, a son of Fern (Newby) Leavitt, Plover, and the late Leo Potter.
He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School and attended technical school before joining the U.S. Army where he was a truck driver. He was stationed in Washington, D.C., and Paris, France.
He was married to Judy Gilman on July 22, 1967, and later divorced after 24 years.
He worked many years for Roberts Irrigation in Plover and then North Central Irrigation Inc. in Plainfield.
He recently lived out West in Wyoming, Idaho and Utah and began over-the-road trucking with England Trucking in Utah and most recently with Marten Trucking, Mondovi, Wis.
He was married to Rachel Mancuso of Mongahala, Pa., on April 12, 1999.
He was a member of the Bancroft American Legion Post 533 and a past member of the Odd Fellows.
Survivors besides his wife and mother include one son, Bradley, Plover; one daughter, Jennifer, Stevens Point; four brothers, Allan (Vicki), Stevens Point, Rick (Barb), Sheboygan, Robert (Fran) Leavitt, Wisconsin Rapids, and Greg (Tammy) Leavitt, Utica, Mich.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Leavitt.
