Janet Colleen (Anderson) Allen, 69, a former operator of Maples Motel Too in Stevens Point, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at St. Michael’s Hospital after a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sandhill Bethany Lutheran Church in Vernon County with the Rev. Greg Geier officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery in Vernon County.
Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday after 10 a.m. until the services.
The Seland-Huston Funeral Home in La Farge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Allen was born Oct. 23, 1930, near Readstown, Wis., a daughter of the late Avery and Gena (Tollackson) Anderson. She grew up and attended school in the area of Readstown, Viroqua and Westby.
She studied at the School of Cosmetology in La Crosse and worked as a beautician in La Crosse and managed a beauty shop in Kenosha.
She was married to Richard Allen in Cashton on Aug. 23, 1954. After the marriage, she opened her own beauty shop in Cashton.
After her retirement, she and her husband moved to Stevens Point and operated the Maples Too Motel for several years. They moved to Wisconsin Rapids several years ago.
Survivors include her husband’; one son, Greg (Wendy), Wisconsin Rapids; two daughters, Sue (Monte) Anderson, Westby, and Kathlene (Tony) Sterling, Wisconsin Rapids; one brother, Charles (Delores) Anderson, Norwalk; one sister, Virginia (Pete) Evans, La Farge; and eight grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a stepmother, Ethel Anderson.
