Eleanor “Ellie” Walkush, 74, 2716 Center St., died Saturday morning, Dec. 4, 1999.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Alan Burkhardt officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. There will be an American Legion Auxiliary ritual at 6:45 p.m. Monday and the Catholic Daughters of America will combine with the parish rosary and Bible vigil at 7 p.m. Monday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name to Hospice of Portage County and St. Joseph Parish would be appreciated.
Miss Walkush was born Feb. 19, 1925, in the town of Dewey, a daughter of the late Frank and Regina (Platta) Walkush. She attended local schools.
At the age of 16 she worked at River Pines Sanatorium (now River Pines Center) as a nurse’s aide and later worked for Lullabye Furniture Co. She retired from Sentry Insurance where she worked for many years on May 1, 1988.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include one sister, Dolores (Paul) Klish, Stevens Point; nieces and nephews including Judy (Albert) Zdroik, Sharon (Rick) Rothman, Kenneth (Lottie) Klish, Mark Buetow, Kim Towne, Scott Buetow, Kathy Klish, Randy Krayecki and Mike (Jennifer) Buetow.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Barney; and two sisters, Irene Helminiak and Gladys Buetow.
