Avis L. Newby, 71, 1500 Howard Ave., died early Sunday morning, Dec. 26, 1999, at the River Pines Living Center.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover with the Rev. Patrick Umberger officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name will be established at a later date.
The Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Newby was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Martin and Laura (Groshek) Bronk Sr. She attended Stevens Point schools.
She was married to Murnane “Rosie” Newby on Oct. 13, 1948, in Trenton, N.J.
After their marriage, they settled in the Plover area. He died March 24, 1993.
She worked for many years at the Hot Fish Shop and the Stevens Point Country Club until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and St. Bronislava Rosary Society.
Survivors include one daughter, Neva (Thomas) Hoerter, Stevens Point; one son, Jerry (Charlyn), Plover; four sisters, Irene Helm and Beverly (Adolph) Betro, both of Stevens Point, Janet (Earl) Miller, Appleton, and Donna Klesmith, Milwaukee; one brother, Martin Bronk Jr., Scandinavia; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
