Wesley D. Powers, 45, town of Lanark, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at home under the care of Hospice of Portage County after battling cancer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in Almond with the Rev. Terry Epling officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lanark.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Powers was born Sept. 21, 1955, in Rantoul, Ill., and was raised in Onarga, Ill.
He was married to Janet Webb on June 15, 1972, in Bloomington, Ill. She survives.
He worked at SentryWorld in Stevens Point and Foxfire Golf Course in Waupaca. In 1998 he opened Lanark Links in the Almond area, a course that he planned and constructed himself, with the help of his family.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jennipher (Todd) Pagel, Waupaca, and Kari (Roy) Scott, Almond; two sons, Wesley, Waupaca, and Caleb, Madison; his mother, Lula (LeRoy) Decker, Onarga; and three granddaughters.
