Virginia Ruth (Johnson) Burnside, 59, Baytown, Texas, a former Stevens Point resident, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, in Houston.
A memorial service was held at the Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown with Dr. Dennis Sansom officiating. She had requested cremation.
Mrs. Burnside was born Sept. 30, 1940, in Chicago, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lucille Johnson.
She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
She was married to Royal D. Burnside on Aug. 20, 1985.
She was a systems engineer for IBM in Madison and then an administrative assistant for Gamber-Johnson in Stevens Point.
She was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Stevens Point and secretary of the Baytown Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. She was a member of South Main Baptist Church in Houston.
Survivors include her husband; one stepdaughter, Beverly (Dennis) Sansom, Birmingham, Ala.; one stepson, R.D. (Ginger) Burnside, Baytown, Texas; one brother, Brad (Ellen) Johnson, Stevens Point; and four stepgrandchildren.
