Ruby H. Somers, 86, formerly of 1810 College Ave., died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Lodi Good Samaritan Center in Lodi.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Boston Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Hunt officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the services. Cremation will follow with the burial of her ashes at Restlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established in her name for Lodi Good Samaritan Center.
Mrs. Somers was born March 8, 1913, in Itasca, a daughter of the late Ole and Florence Houlder. She moved with her family to Rice Lake, attending schools and graduating from high school there.
After high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
She was married to Verne Somers on Jan. 8, 1936, in Rice Lake. He died Oct. 7, 1963.
After the marriage, they moved to Stevens Point. She was a former member of Frame Memorial Church, and following her husband’s death, worked as a nurse’s assistant at the River Pines Center until retiring in 1978.
After retirement she spent time with her family and at her cottage at Lake Katherine near Hazelhurst during the summer months.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Paul) Fisk, Lodi; three sons, Don (Carol), Plover, Art (Debbie), Stevens Point, Gary (Debra), Maple Grove, Minn.; one brother, Orville Houlder of Spooner/Green Valley, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
