Rose Vellos, 85, Chicago, Ill., the sister of several Portage County residents, died Nov. 9, 1999, in Chicago.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Gerald Catholic Church in Chicago. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation was at the Robert J. Sheehy and Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Chicago Memorial Center Development Office would be appreciated.
Mrs. Vellos was born on Sept. 17, 1910, in Chicago, a daughter of the late John and Angeline (Tylka) Zarecki.
She was married to Louis Vellos.
She worked at Wiebolt’s in downtown Chicago. After retirement, she volunteered at Holy Cross and St. Francis hospitals in Evanston, Ill.
Survivors include three daughters, Beatrice (Don) Lamb, Mary (Robert) Klonowski and Carolyn (Raymond) O’Connell; one son, John (Carla); two sisters, Angeline (Edward) Mallek, Junction City, and Mary (William) Houtary, Stevens Point; four brothers, John Zarecki, Raymond (Florence) Zarecki, Louis Zarecki and Peter (Adrianne) Zarecki, all of Junction City; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Walter Zarecki; two sisters, Wanda Cyrus and Anna Benkowski; and one grandson.
