Richard J. Sopa, 70, an Amherst native, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher with the Rev. Robert Pedretti officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church until the services. The rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Sopa was born May 9, 1929, in Amherst, a son of the late Charles F. and Susan (Palash) Sopa.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked at Evinrude Motors in Milwaukee for more than 20 years.
Survivors include five sisters, Lorraine (Rhody) Studinski, Stevens Point, Irene Pogorzelski, Milwaukee, Bernice (Steve) Haka, Custer, Marian (George) Donovan, Pardeeville, and Ernestine (Ronald) Kotney, Muskego; five brothers, Harry (Phyllis), Stevens Point; Myron and Charles Jr. (Janice), both of Amherst, Gregory, Milwaukee, and Donald (Sharon), New Berlin.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clarence.
