Philip Huntley Rothman, 89, a Stevens Point native, Newbury Park, Calif., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, in Thousand Lakes, Calif.
Services were held at St. Patrick Episcopal Church in Thousand Lakes with the Rev. Mortimer Ward IV officiating. Burial was in Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Cemetery in Westlake Village, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to Alzheimer’s Association, 921 E. Main St., Suite B, Ventura, Calif. 93001.
Mr. Rothman was born Feb. 26, 1910, in Stevens Point, a son of the late Edward and Ollie Rothman. He graduated from Lincoln Elementary School in 1924.
After selling The Rothman General Store in Stevens Point, he moved with his family to Los Angeles where he graduated from Hollywood High School in 1928. He graduated from Los Angeles Junior College in 1928 after majoring in journalism.
After graduation he moved to San Francisco and worked for Hardware Mutual Insurance and Casualty Co.
He was married to Esther Summers of Stevens Point in San Francisco in 1943.
After Hardware Mutual changed its name to Sentry Insurance and moved its West Coast headquarters to Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1953, he became senior audit manager. He retired from Sentry in 1975 after working for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Philip “Robin” (Pamela Jo); and one grandson.
