Glenn F. Schlice, 75, formerly of Stevens Point, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in North Point, Fla.
Inurnment will be in St. Stephen Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Schlice was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Stevens Point, a son of James E. and Martha (Somers) Schlice. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1944.
After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he attended what is now the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Miami of Florida University, where he played football and participated in the 1946 Orange Bowl. He played for the Wausau Muskies, Delavan Red Devils and Merrill Foxes semi-professional football teams. He was an avid bowler in Stevens Point for years.
He was married to Antoinette Styza and later divorced. He later was married to Margaret Van Vleet of Mt. Carmel, Ill., where they ran a tavern for a number of years before her death. He then moved to Florida.
Survivors include two brothers, James Schlice, Stevens Point, and Richard Schlice, Kewaskum; a sister, Catherine (Bob) Lee, Wisconsin Rapids; and one grandson.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Wayne; three brothers, Bob, Don and Bill; and two sisters, Dorothy and Margaret.
