Frances M. Berna, 81, formerly of town of Harrison, Iola, died Thursday morning, Nov. 11, 1999, at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Weyauwega due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt with the Rev. James Genovese officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. Monday at the church until the services. The St. Adalbert Rosary Society will combine with the parish rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name will be established at a later date.
Mrs. Berna was born April 25, 1918, in the town of Alban, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Koczikowski) Lorbiecki.
She was married to Edward F. Berna on May 23, 1936, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. He died Sept. 15, 1982.
After their marriage they settled in Chicago for a short time, then moved to Rosholt where together they started their trucking and logging business known as Berna Lumber Co. and Sawmill.
She was a member of the St. Adalbert Rosary Society.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, bowling and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Delores), Iola, and Robert (JoAnn), Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Phyllis Berna, Milwaukee; two brothers, Edwin Lorbiecki, Whiting, and Peter Lorbiecki, town of Bevent; one sister, Della Omernik, Stevens Point; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
