Esther M. Aldrich, 91, New Glarus, an Amherst native, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at the New Glarus Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Amherst United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Gaul officiating. Inurment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst.
There will be no visitation. The Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, New Glarus, is assisting the family with arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Mrs. Aldrich was born Feb. 8, 1908, in Amherst, a daughter of the late Bertram and Catherine (Evans) Dwinell. She graduated from Amherst High School.
She was married to Howard C. Aldrich in Stevens Point on May 25, 1930. He died Aug. 7, 1989.
She served as postal clerk in Amherst for 23 years before retiring in 1971.
She lived in Amherst all of her life until moving to Monticello in 1989.
She was a member of the Amherst United Methodist Church and served as its financial secretary for many year.
She resided at her New Glarus address since March 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara (Robert) Getman, Monticello; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jack and Robert (Skip) and four sisters, Lois Hebblewhite, Bessie Ruediger, Bernice Thompson and Sarah Strong.
