Edward Sekerka, 82, 2456 N. Highway J, Rosholt, died Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 10, 1999, at St. Michael’s Hospital as the result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on Oct. 31.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Visitation was Friday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and Saturday at the church until the services. The Holy Name Society combined with the parish rosary Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
Mr. Sekerka was born Jan. 12, 1917, in the town of Sharon, a son of the late Florian and Mary (Schulist) Sekerka. He attended schools in Polonia.
He was married to Regina Puza on Nov. 6, 1943, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Torun. After their marriage they settled in Rosholt on the family farm homestead, where they have lived the past 53 years farming. He retired from farming in 1981.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church in Polonia.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Daniel (Carol), Rosholt; two daughters, Barbara (Tony) Kruzicki, Rosholt, and Paulette (Michael) Schuessler, Shawano; one sister, Cecelia Wierzba, Wittenberg; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Kurszewski and Rose Ostrowski.
