Antoni “Tony” S. Soroko, 1450 Water St., died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the Portage County Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. A general rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Soroko was born Dec. 24, 1911, in Wilno, Poland, a son of the late Alexander and Emilia (Salkiewicz) Soroko.
He was married to Irena Ziembicka.
He was a World War II veteran, serving with the Polish Air Force. He served as lieutenant captain.
He was employed for a Polish newspaper as an editor in Chicago for a number of years. Prior to his retirement, he was a baking manager for IGA.
Survivors include six sons, Adam (Mary), Minneapolis, Minn., Anthony M., Alexander (Susan), both of Arlington, Va., Eugene, Ladysmith, Julius (Lubomila), Roswell, N.M., and Lee (April), New Haven, Conn.; four daughters, Emilia (Forrest Carlson) Soroko, Chicago, Yolanta (Kraig) Soroko-Baumann, Wausau, and Victoria Soroko and Beata (Win) McNamme, both of Arlington, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchildren.
