Anthony D. Butkus, 83, 505 Casimir Road West, Stevens Point, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Schaller officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. The general rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Monday.
Mr. Butkus was born July 29, 1916, in Mason City, Iowa, a son of the late Anthony J. and Anna (Zielinski) Butkus. He moved with his family to Chicago where he attended school and worked at JoAnna Western Co. as a color matcher.
He was married to Eve Lapinskas on June 16, 1937, at Providence of God Catholic Church in Chicago.
After the marriage, they settled in Chicago until 1959 when they moved to their present address.
He was employed for Pacelli High School from 1959 to 1972. From 1972 to 1982 he worked at St. Michael’s Hospital, retiring March 3, 1982, at maintenance engineer.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Monsignor McGinley Council 1170.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Anthony J. (Carol), and John (Barbara), both of Stevens Point; one daughter, Margaret (Robert) Check, Stevens Point; three sisters, Stella Kall, Mason City, Iowa, Bessie (Charles) Daugird, Lake Jackson, Texas, and Helen Hayes, Chicago; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Schultz, Berna Stankovich and Martha Turner.
