Phyllis Wisniewski, 78, Stillwater, Minn., former Stevens Point city clerk, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, as the result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident near Stillwater.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
A memorial visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the services.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association and the ALS Association.
Mrs. Wisniewski was born May 8, 1921, in Stevens Point, a daughter of the late Oren G. and Margaret (Steiner) Preston.
She grew up in Minneapolis, Minn., after her family moved there and graduated from Minneapolis Southwest High School.
She was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., during World War II.
She was married to Chester B. Wisniewski at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point on Dec. 27, 1946. He died on Nov. 20, 1978.
Mrs. Wisniewski was elected city clerk in Stevens Point in 1969 and served until her retirement in 1985.
After retirement, she moved to Stillwater.
She was a member of the Democratic Party, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Kate (Jeff) Titcomb, New Richmond; four sons, Mark, Los Angeles, Kim (Sue) New Berlin, Scott, Stillwater, Minn., and Chris, Amherst Junction; one sister, Beryl Stankey, Stillwater, Minn.; and four grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Elaine, Joyce and Kathryn.
