Lorraine A. Birrenkott, 78, 524 Frontenac Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at St. Michael’s Hospital due to complications with diabetes.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Don Przybylski officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. The American Legion will have a ritual at 6:15 p.m. St. Stanislaus Rosary Society Rose #20 and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary will combine with the general rosary at 7:15 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, Hospice of Portage County or St. Michael’s Hospital.
Mrs. Birrenkott was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Milwaukee, a daughter of Otto and Irma (Brockhaus) Behling.
She was married to Francis J. Birrenkott in Mount Horeb on July 21, 1943. They lived in Chicago and Milwaukee before moving to Stevens Point in 1958.
She was employed as head cashier for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Bookstore from 1972 until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of several organizations, including St. Stanislaus Rosary Society Rose #20, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and St. Michael’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Barbara (Jerome) Wild, Anchorage, Alaska; three sons, Thomas (Margaret), Sun Prairie, John (Patricia), Plover, and Michael (Leslie), Aurora, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
