Laura 0lstad, 96, a Portage County native, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, in a Minot, N.D., medical center.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the Heimdal Lutheran Church and burial took place in Hillside Cemetery, Fessenden, N.D.
Mrs. Olstad was born June 22, 1903, in Portage County, a daughter of the late William and Inanda Abrahamson.
She was married to Alvin Olstad in June 1930. He died in 1975.
They farmed in the town of New Hope until 1947 when they moved to Heimdal, N.D., and continued farming.
Laura lived in Heimdal until she entered a nursing home in 1995.
Survivors include three daughters, Audrey (Harry) Herrington, Lincoln, Neb., Elaine (Owen) Hakanson, Renton, Wash; Carol (Bill) Byers, Elizabeth, Colo.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter.
