Jean K. Szymkowiak, 47, 600 Bukolt Ave., died unexpectedly Friday morning, Aug. 20, 1999, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Al Burkhardt officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. Monday at the church until the services. There will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Szymkowiak was born Aug. 31, 1951, in Stevens Point, a daughter of Fred and Ruth (Helbach) Berto of Amherst. She graduated from Amherst High School in 1970.
She was married to Kenneth Szymkowiak on May 26, 1979, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point and have lived at their present address for three years.
Mrs. Szymkowiak was owner/operator of Galloping Groomer, a dog grooming shop for the past nine year. She was a counselor for Bridges, a support group for the disabled.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Daniel and Patrick, at home; her parents, Amherst; two sisters, Patricia (George) Guyant, Appleton, and twin sister Jane (Len) Pascavis, Waukesha; and two brothers, Daniel (Ginger) Berto, Austin, Texas, and Michael Berto, Amherst.
