Harry E. Steinke, 79, Wisconsin Rapids, a town of Grant native, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at Family Heritage Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids with the Rev. Mark Drengler officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, and from 10 a.m. until the services Friday at the church.
Mr. Steinke was born May 22, 1920, in the town of Grant, a son of the late Henry and Bertha (Novack) Steinke.
He was married to Mildred Gaetke on April 30, 1949, in Wisconsin Rapids. She died Jan. 25, 1994.
He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 9, 1941 to July 1, 1945. He was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
Mr. Steinke farmed in the Marshfield, Greenwood and Arpin areas. He was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. as a clean and broke tender for 21 years until his retirement in 1982.
Survivors include three sons, Ron (Sandy), Plover, Gordon (Mary), Hewitt, and Jim (Debby), Madison; one sister, Alma Gussel, Kellner; and nine grandchildren.
