Evelyn L. Stoltenberg, 80, Amherst Junction, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at her home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Hope. The Rev. William Mack will officiate. Burial will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in the town of New Hope.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Voie Funeral Home in Iola.
Mrs. Stoltenberg was born Oct. 18, 1918, in the town of New Hope, daughter of the late Palmer and Ella (Bestul) Roe.
She was married to Irving Stoltenberg on June 3, 1939, in the town of New Hope. He survives.
Mrs. Stoltenberg worked at Crystal’s Café in Iola, for Dr. Wiley at the Iola Clinic, as a reporter for the Appleton Post-Crescent, at Krause Publications for 13 years, as a secretary for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola, and for the Portage County Social Services Department in the distribution of food stamps.
She was a member of the Ladies Aid, and an organist at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in the town of New Hope. She enjoyed bowling, downhill and cross country skiing and traveling.
Besides her husband, survivors include three daughters, Judy (David) Humphrey, Prescott, Ariz., Linda Lingelbach, Lacey, Wash., and Nola (Michael) Knight, Amherst Junction; one son, Arden (Trish) Stoltenberg, La Crosse; one sister, Lorna (Willard) Wogsland, Blountville, Tenn.; one brother, Lynn (Madeline) Roe, Wittenberg; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One brother preceded her in death.
