Wanda M. Cass, 85, 506 N. Old Wausau Road, town of Hull, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at St. Michael’s Hospital.
A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Schaller officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home. The St. Peter Rosary Society Rose 40, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Jerum Court No. 1031 and the Catholic Women’s club, of which she was a member, prayed the rosary at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cass was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Chicago, a daughter of the late John and Natalie (Piekarz) Penar. She moved to the Stevens Point area in 1930, attending the Demonstration School and graduating from Emerson High School in 1935.
She was married to Philip Cass on Oct. 5, 1946, at St. Peter Catholic Church. After the marriage, they settled in Stevens Point and lived at their present address the last 51 years. He died June 3, 1992.
Mrs. Cass worked in the Portage County register of deeds office from 1938 to 1946 and in the Portage County land description office from 1969 to 1979.
She was also a member of the Polish National Alliance.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia (Peter) Wachowiak, town of Carson; two sons, Donald (Gladys), town of Hull, and James (Loni), town of Carson; two sisters, Virginia Wanta and Evelyn Jerzak, both of Stevens Point; and seven grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Philip and Joseph; two brothers and one sister.
