Irene Helminiak, 71, 2708 Center St., died Monday, July 12, 1999, at St. Michael’s Hospital. She was under the care of Hospice of Portage County.
Services were held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Alan Burkhardt officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
The Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Helminiak was born June 13, 1928, in the town of Dewey, daughter of the late Frank and Regina (Platta) Walkush. She attended local schools.
She was married to Ernest Helminiak on Sept. 4, 1948, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. After the marriage, the couple settled at their present address. He survives.
Mrs. Helminiak was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Annes Altar Society and Women of Moose Chapter 311. She enjoyed traveling.
Besides her husband, survivors include one daughter, Judy (Albert) Zdroik, Stevens Point; two sisters, Eleanor Walkush, Stevens Point, and Delores (Paul) Klish, Stevens Point; and four grandchildren.
One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
