Florian A. Jurgella, 85, formerly of 5339 Old Highway 18, Stevens Point, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at the Portage County Health Care Center, where he had been a resident the past six years.
Services were held Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Przybylski officiated. Burial was in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
The Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his name at a later date.
Mr. Jurgella was born Aug. 12, 1913, in the town of Hull, son of the late Peter and Mary (Zurawski) Jurgella. He was married to Helen Lewandowski on May 3, 1937, at St. Peter Catholic Church. She survives.
Mr. Jurgella was employed at Copps Fuel and Heating. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Besides his wife, survivors include five sons, James (Theresa) Jurgella, Dousman, Florian (Barbara) Jurgella, Stevens Point, Edward Jurgella, Stevens Point, Peter (Carmen) Jurgella, Mosinee, and Frank (Monica) Jurgella, Plover; four daughters, Frances (Ernest) Betro, Plover, Shirley (Florian) Chojnacki, Custer, Helen (Dave) Novack, Wisconsin Rapids, and Patricia (Dave) Kitowski Jr., Stevens Point; 31 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Josephine Brillowski, Stevens Point, Lillian Raschka, Custer, Helen Check, Custer, and Elizabeth Lubetski, Milwaukee.
Seven brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
