Robert R. Lacourse, 66, 2431 Magnolia Drive, Plover, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Portage County Health Care Center. He had been a resident there the past nine days under care of the Hospice of Portage County.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Shuda Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements, which included visitation at the funeral home beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday and at the church from 9 a.m. Friday until services.
Mr. Lacourse was born Nov. 20, 1932, at Block Island, R.I., a son of the late Joseph and Irene (Smith) Lacourse. The family moved to California while he was a youth, and he graduated from Glendore High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from Feb. 15, 1950, to July 3, 1953. He attended Citrus Junior College in Glendore, Calif., for two years and re-entered the Air Force in 1956. He was discharged as a staff sergeant in 1962.
He worked as an air traffic controller at O’Hare Airport in Chicago until he retired in 1972 and moved to Stevens Point. He participated in local government in the town of Hull and village of Plover.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Steven) Tumilty, McFarland, and Susan (Kurt) Krolow, Wausau; two sons, Scott (Kris) and Kevin, both of Stevens Point; one brother, James (Jacki) Scarborough, Maine; and 10 grandchildren.
